Belle Glos Dairyman Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California, United States: This is one of four single vineyard wines from this Californian winery. The vines for this Pinot Noir grow in alluvial soils of the Russian River Valley. Heavy fog rolls in over the coastal range and burns off when the sun reaches its highest point in the day. Rich and chocolaty: although this is a dry wine technically, it has a generously sweet nose due to the ripeness of the fruit and the toasty oak again. Mocha and espresso flavours on the palate with fleshy sweet dark cherry notes. Supple and smooth. Pair with grilled chicken, Mexican mole or dark chocolate. Flat Rock Gravity Pinot Noir 2013, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: The winery uses the gentlest methods to press the grapes and make the wine via a gravity flow system rather than pumping (thus the name gravity on the label).
