A luscious, smoky, full-bodied blend of Syrah and Grenache grapes, at a terrific price. Black pepper and fleshy black plum aromas. Velvet texture. Awesome! The southern French region of Corbières is often underestimated, and yet it's capable of producing blockbuster reds like this one. Usually Carignane is part of the blend, but not in this case. Lafage 2015, Côté Sud, Côtes Catalanes I.G.P., France: Gorgeous weave of aromas on the nose here: ripe blackberry on the palate of this full-bodied, supple French red wine that's a blend of Syrah and Grenache grapes. The vines are planted on south-facing terraces at the foot of the Pyrenees, Cote Sud translates to South Side. The white sister wine of this red is called Cote Est or East Side... sounds like a Broadway musical. Eastside Story ;) This southern French red wine was matured in concrete tanks. Produced by winemaker Frederico Falcão, this full-bodied Portuguese red wine is made from grapes grown on the winery's estate farm in the Palmela region from the local variety Castelao. The vines grow in sandy soils and are harvested via traditional methods with a foot treading for pressing and open lager fermentation and oak maturation.
