Produced by William Fèvre Saint-Bris is a Sauvignon Blanc Beauty amongst the Chardonnay vines in this tiny and only Burgundy appellation allowed to make Sauvignon Blanc. Doesn't get any cleaner, leaner and vibrant than this. Fragrant with light green herbs, fresh hay, gooseberry and lemon juice aromas on the nose. Brilliantly balanced with great acidity for food. Le Fils des Gras Moutons Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie 2018, Sèvre-Et-Maine, Loire A.C., France: The Melon de Bourgogne wine grapes for this zesty, leesy Muscadet Sevre-et-Maine's sur lie are hand-harvested from 40-70 year-old vines. Lovely and lemony on the nose and palate with crisp apple crunch, vibrant citrus, fresh green herb and stony mineral flavours from beginning to finish on a medium-bodied frame. "Le Fils des Gras Moutons" translates as "the children of fat sheep." And while I don't think it would pair with mouton or lamb chops, it could definitely cut through the richness of any seafood or shellfish dish. Beni di Batasiolo has nine estate vineyards surrounding the original winery in a circular pattern. The grapes for Sovrana – or ‘sovereign’ – are fermented with maceration on the skins for 10-15 days. The wine is then aged in oak for about 12-15 months. After bottling, the wine is aged for a further 8-10 months before release. The result is a rich, concentrated and brooding wine with layers of blueberries, blackberries, licorice, cigar box, dark spices orange zest and mocha.
