Maycas De Limari Reserva Especial Pinot Noir 2014, Limari Valley, Chile: Heavy in the toasty oak and smoke on the nose, but still attractive. The burnt wood envelopes this Chilean Pinot Noir. Flavours of blackened cherry on the palate. pair with grilled chicken. Maycas means arable lands in Quechua, where the foundation of the South American empire of the Incas once ruled. Maison Roche de Bellene Cuvee Reserve Pinot Noir 2014, Burgundy A.C., France: This Nicolas Potel wine is medium-bodied, and smooth: Classic Old World pinot noir that offers aromas and flavours of tart cherries, earth and some herbal notes. Good acidity for food. Awesome price for Burgundy, especially for the quality designation of AC. Finishes with lovely spice and coffee notes. Pair with smoke salmon. There are 4,620 hectares planted for this Pinot Noir and the vines are 35 to 70 years old. They're planted at a density of 10,000 per hectare with a southwest exposure in clay and limestone soils at 234 metres above sea level. Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2014, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: This medium-bodied New Zealand red wine is satin smooth and tickles the senses. Juicy, fleshy bright cherries and dark chocolate dance across your senses with this pinot noir. Ultra-supple and sensuous. Amazingly great price for a flagship wine. Cloudy Bay put New Zealand on the wine map for its Sauvignon Blanc, but this Pinot Noir holds its own and deserves its own shining place in the wine world. Please make me some seared tuna and top up my glass. Pinot noir is New Zealand's benchmark red wine and it shows why in this wine. Highly recommended. Hamilton-Russell leads the way in the country for cool-climate viticulture and racy, exciting wines. Sophisticated and complex, but extremely easy to drink. Lavish fleshy ripe cherry aromas and flavours yet not simple or sweet. Complex, elegant and layered South African Pinot Noir from a master producer. Some dark spice on the finish. Silk texture. Bonny Doon Le Cigare Blanc Roussanne Grenache Blanc 2013, Arroyo Seco, Central Coast, California, United States: This gorgeous Californian white blend of Roussanne and Grenache Blanc grapes, traditionally grown in the Rhone Valley, but in this wine achieve a Californian signature. The vineyard from which these grapes are sourced is named Beeswax, and is certified biodynamic by Demeter. This wine offers attractive notes of honey, beeswax (naturally), guava and lemongrass.
