Crios Susana Balbo Dominio Del Plata Torrontés 2013, Mondoza, Argentina: This Argentine gem of a wine introduces itself with lime and apple blossom. Medium-bodied, floral and expressive: it's so pretty. Perfect for mild and medium curries and spices. The price is simply amazing for the taste. This is one of Argentina's best winemakers. Peter Lehmann Wines Layers Red Shiraz Tempranillo Mourvèdre Grenache 2011, Barossa, South Australia, Australia: A robust expression of Barossa red wine in all its glory from Peter Lehmann Wines and the Hess Family. Nice price, too. This full-bodied wonder offers toasty oak with generous fleshy blackberries, currants and plums aromas. Smooth and juicy. Previous vintages of this wine have won a Blue-Gold Medal at the Sydney International Wine Competition, which is judged with food. No wonder: it would make a great companion to hearty meat dishes. St. Hallett Gamekeeper's Shiraz Grenache 2010, Barossa Valley, Australia: Baked cherries and kirsch on the nose with a warm, peppery finish. Full-bodied and tasty. Great value. This winery has been making classic wine in the heart of the Barossa Valley since 1944. In Australia, this blend of Shiraz and Grenache grapes along with a dash of the flagship Portuguese grape Touriga Nacional is called the Gamekeeper’s Reserve. This robust red wine at a great price offers tremendous value and bang for your buck. Attractive aromas of mint and blackberry on the nose. Juicy, full-bodied, rich and delicious on the palate. Wakefield is known for producing wines of outstanding value and quality. This is no exception. This particular vintage of this wine has been awarded several honours in the value-priced wine category for a number of international competitions. Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler Riesling 2012, Mosel Q.B.A., Germany: Spectacularly concentrated flavours, yet not heavy and, bonus, is light in alcohol. Yes, you can have your cake and eat it too when it comes to German Riesling. (Though pair this zesty white wine with dishes that have a touch of sweetness like glazed ham rather than dessert itself.) Glorious pleasure that could be three times the price! Ripe peach, apricot and pear with some zingy moth-watering action. Light and fresh… float away on its flavours. Talamonti Tre Saggi Montepulciano D'abruzzo 2011, Abruzzo D.O.C., Italy: Tre Saggi translates to "three wise men" and both wise men and women will be smart to try this wine. Rich, dark and savoury with black cherries and smoke and lots of mocha and sweet chocolate notes. Full-bodied and luxuriously thick like a comforting blanket you wrap closer to you on a chilly night under a starry sky by the campfire. Great structure and balance. An elegant dinner party wine that won’t cost a fortune. Plus the label looks like it cost twice as much as you paid for it ;)  Great spice and smoke notes on the finish. Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: One of New Zealand's best known (and most loved) Sauvignon Blancs, Kim Crawford delivers well above it's price point. This half bottle size is great when you only want a couple of glasses of wine, and it offers terrific lemon and lime brightness. The full bottle size is also available in liquor stores now. Winemaker Anthony blends different vineyard parcels of the grapes, like they do in Champagne to create more complexity and interesting flavours. Kim Crawford Merlot 2013, Hawkes Bay, North Island, New Zealand: A robust, smooth New Zealand red wine, with fleshy black plums and some dark spice on the finish. Kim Crawford has that rare combination of being both popular with a wide swath of wine drinkers, and respected by even the pickiest connoisseurs. Finishes with black plum and a lick of spiced oak. Kim Crawford Pansy! Rosé 2013, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: This Rosé has an almost neon pink hue, and is just as vibrant on the palate with strawberry jam notes, even though it is bone-dry. It is a blend of Merlot and Malbec grapes that won a gold medal in the New Zealand International Wine Show. Fun and delightful with a playful sense of style. There’s no oak on this aromatic blend of mostly muscat (Moscatel) grapes with some gewürztraminer grapes, that grow in the mountains of north-east Spain. A lovely honeysuckle finish. Simply divine even at triple the price it is. Stunningly lovely white floral notes along with some lychee and white melon. So, so pretty as an aperitif or with fresh seafood. Highly recommended. Loaded with black pepper, fleshy dark fruit, mouth-watering action and layers of lip-smacking flavours. This wine was matured in French oak and made from 100% Graciano, a native Spanish grape enjoying a resurgence in popularity. This is modern and complex Rioja red wine. Pair with lamb and rosemary. Ravenswood Vintners Blend Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, California, United States: Ravenswood is known for very full-bodied zinfandels, and this cabernet is also robust, but in a smooth, balanced and mouth-watering way. Packed with blackberry and cassis flavours with some smoke on the finish. Terrific! Ravenswood is one of the famous three R's of California wineries famous for their Zinfandel (Ridge and Rosenblum being the other two), which sometimes overshadows just how well they make Cabernet Sauvignon. Ménage à Trois Red 2012, California, United States: Fleshy black raspberry and cherry on the nose of this terrifically tasty Californian red wine blend of Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
