Reviews and Ratings
Nick Onischuk - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: The Dominio Del Plata Crios Torrontes 2013 is simply stunning and amazing value! Very floral and sweet on the nose. This light, mouth-watering wine features apple, peach and a hint of lime on the palate. A must try! Will pair very well with light seafood. (91/100) Tasted on October 27, 2014
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: A flower bouquet in a wine glass with a layer of apricot and lychee added for depth. Medium body with a soft mouthfeel that quickly turns to a mouth-watering finish. Paired with a curry cream cheese dip that elevated both to another level. Tasted April 2015
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Paired with Rainbow Trout Gravlax, Smoked lemon, Charred Shishito Peppers and greens courtesy gezellig. The more I am exposed to Torrontes the more I enjoy it. Light and easy drinking with touches of citrus, tree fruit, honey and floral. Creamy mouthfeel with bright acidity. Definitely a good seafood wine. Paired well with the greens which can sometimes be tricky. Tasted: October 2014
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: A hand-harvested 100% Torrontes from Argentina's Calchagues Valley. A floral, slightly citrus nose and palate with delicate floral spicy notes. Crisp, light mouthfeel. Vinification 3 mos.sur lees. 13.9% D Excellent match for seafood and curries.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review: Very pretty floral and stone fruit on the nose with a light, soft mouthfeel and slight astringency. Torrontes is a not a mainstream grape variety and this wine makes a nice change from the masses. Try with a mild white fish dish.
Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review: In 1999, after working more than 20 years as a consultant winemaker for national and international wine companies, Susana decided to have her dream come true and started to build Susana Balbo Wines in the heart of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza in Argentina. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology to produce high-end wines while handling the fruit ever so delicately, Susana and her team are able to maintain the true expression of each of their varietals and achieve wines with a singular unique style. This is certainly true of their Torrontés! This is a wine to try if you love aromatic whites! It is a very light silvery straw color with white blossoms, apple, pear and a touch of lime zest on the nose. On the palate, it is lively with lots of stone fruit and a little residual sugar. Soft acid and a fruity finish. Absolutely yummy!
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review: Perfume galore! The 2014 Crios Torontes shows pronounced rose water, pink grapefruit, and tangerine aromas. The palate is off dry with orangey-lime and peach flavours. This wine is light bodied with slight fizziness and a long pithy (almost grippy) finish. The acidity a touch lacking for my taste as well. Enjoy with the soon to come patio weather!
Crios means offspring and refers both to the winemaker's children and her wines (one in the same really). Torrontés, Argentina's most fragrant white wine offers the purest expression of the northern provinces where high elevation, dry weather, intense sun and cool nights concentration both flavour and pleasure. No oak ... no need. - Community Wine reviews
