Château Salmonière Vieilles Vignes Muscadet Sèvre & Maine 2012, Loire A.C., France: This zesty white wine, brought to us by Gilbert Chon Et Ses Fils, was aged sur lie: bottled without filtering or fining the sediment giving the wine a more mouth-filling, creamier texture and taste. One of the most refreshing white wines around is Muscadet. This shows subtle aromas of salty mineral, grapefruit, peach, floral and notes of lees. It is dry and crisp with a medium body on the palate, and its soft citrus fruit flavours lead to a finish that is medium-long, zesty, and minerally. An exuberant wine with fresh, clean notes of lime, lemongrass and herbal refreshment. Perfect as an aperitif or food companion. Did I hear we're having shellfish tonight?
