Grange of Prince Edward Estate Winery Select Pinot Noir 2015

Prince Edward County, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada

Lynn scored this wine: 92/100

Brilliant Pinot Noir! 2015 was an intense year for grape growers in Prince Edward County, with a late spring frost killing 90 percent of the buds, however the grapes that did come were amazing, especially this Pinot Noir. Aromas of cherry, beet root, and leather with some floral undertones that carry through on the palate to a persistent spicy finish. Enjoy now, or cellar for 5-7 more years. Tasted Sept 2017.

Serralunga D'alba

Fontanafredda Serralunga D'alba Barolo 2013

Piedmont D.O.C.G., Italy
2573 days ago

Lynn scored this wine: 92/100

The Serralunga D’Alba region happens to be the largest producer of Barolo for the Fontanafredda winery, and this 2013 vintage represents the 25th anniversary of this wine. The striped label is a nod to the once striped buidings that housed the first kings of Italy in the mid-19th century. Brilliant garnet in the glass, aromas of forest floor, eucalyptus and dark charries transform into spicy cherry flavours and a lingering spicy finish. Wonderful with a variety of meals, from charcuterie boards to holiday dinners. Tasted October 2017.

La Rosa

Fontanafredda La Rosa Barolo 2012

Piedmont D.O.C.G., Italy
2573 days ago

Lynn scored this wine: 92/100

Using grapes grown in the south-facing, clay soils of the La Rosa vineyard in the highest part of the Serralunga D’Alba region, this Barolo is a brilliant garnet red in the glass, with both floral and spicy cherry notes. Balanced acidity that carries through to a spicy finish, this is the perfect pairing to bolder red meat dishes or heavier pasta. Also makes a wonderful gift for Barolo lovers! Tasted October 2017.

Unusual Wine Experience

A few years ago, my husband and I went on a date to see a David Copperfield show. We stopped at a local restaurant to grab a pre-show drink, and I fell in love with the 6th Sense Syrah. The show ended up being a horrible disappointment, but the magnificent flavours of that wine stayed with me all night - turned my whole night around. Now those are some magical vines!
