Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A step up from the Vintner's Blend, this wine has lots of ironish blueberry notes, black cherry, milk chocolate and Kenya AA coffee wrapped around its pure fruit core. 92 Points.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I love the experience and ritual of opening a bottle of wine to begin a meal and being reminded of how much I enjoy the wines from specific wine regions. In this case it's California wines. Each time I open a Ravenswood wine that sentiment comes to mind and I enjoy each and every sip as much as I did the first. One of many examples of why I love California wines for their consistent quality and approachable style, each and every vintage.

Iconic California Zin producer, known as the "Godfather of Zin", Joel Peterson of Ravenswood, has been crafting some of the finest Zin for nearly four decades now, and their Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel is a terrific value-priced example of the delicious wines they craft, which are loved by all!

A blend of 79% Zinfandel, 20% Petite Sirah, and 1% Alicante Bouschet, it's expressive, luscious, robust and elegant with the perfect harmony of fruit, spice, and texture. The nose shows rich dark fruit, figs, dark plum, chocolate, mocha, cigar box, gingerbread, smoky bacon, and fresh herbs. Medium-full bodied with a refreshing velvety mouthfeel, with spicy black plum, fig, mocha, and caramelized cocoa nibs on the palate. Perfect for enjoying all year round, and with BBQ season arriving across Canada, when you fire up the BBQ this versatile and simply delicious wine is sure to please. Tasted March 2018. 91+ points. Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Tasted this one side by side with the Ravenswood 2015 Old Wine Zinfandel Vintner's Blend.

Aromas of cigar, cedar, dark fruit and mint. Medium to full-bodied and smooth with flavours of red fruit and spice.

Suggested pairings include a peppercorn steak and a spinach salad to compliment the spice.

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

An accessibly priced Old vine Lodi Zinfandel. Tasted the 2015 vintage in August 2018. Well balanced, medium acidity, medium tannins, medium plus fruit with integrated alcohol. Blueberry, raspberry, moderate spicy oak. Good value. Very versatile pairing, try this with BBQ ribs, steak, chicken. Easily enjoyable on its own. 91 points #crowdpleaser
Simon Chen rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

way better than the white label ravenswood zinfendel. Not overly sweet, eucalyptus, mint, and has good acidity and tannin
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lots of cigarbox and black fruit notes on the nose with spice, black plum and some chocolate notes on the palate. Lingering finish with medium tannins. Tasted March 2018 and paired with grilled steak.
Ravenswood (2015) Old Vines Zinfandel is a classic from the Lodi wine region in California. Ripe dark plums, dark spice, ripe red berry jam, smoke, white pepper and cigar box spice -- this Zin has it all. Drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
