From the Lodi wine region this Old Vines Zinfandel is created from one of California's top producers. Ravenswood 2016 includes 17% Petite Sirah and 1% Alicante Bouschet in the blend which spent 18 months in French oak barrel. Look for ripe strawberries, blue and blackberries with earthy and savoury spice flavours on the palate. Ideal for the barbie.

Zinfandel food pairings: hearty meat meals, pasta, aged cheddar, pulled pork.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Iconic California Zin producer, known as the Godfather of Zin, Joel Peterson, founder of Ravenswood, has crafted some of the finest Zin for over four decades, and their Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel is a terrific value-priced example of the delicious wines they craft.

A blend of 82% Zinfandel, 17% Petite Sirah, and 1% Alicante Bouschet, it’s fresh and expressive, luscious, robust and elegant with great harmony between the fruit, spice, and texture. The nose shows rich dark fruit, stewed plum, figs, chocolate, mocha, cedar, gingerbread, smoky bacon, and fresh herbs. Medium-full bodied with a refreshing velvety mouthfeel, with spicy black plum, field berries, black currant, and mocha on the palate. Perfect with stewed and braised dishes this winter and BBQ fare all year round. Tasted January 2019. 90+ points. Matt Steeves – www.quercusvino.ca Released via Vintages January 2019 - $21.95

Ripe dark plums, dark spice, ripe red berry jam, smoke, white pepper and cigar box spice -- this Zin has it all including 17% Petite Sirah and 1% Alicante Bouschet in the blend which spent 18 months in French oak barrel.
