Natalie's Score: 91/100

Made from 100% Sangiovese wine grapes. An elegant pale ruby in the glass this Brunello has bright aromas of wild cherry, dried strawberry, rose petals, ripe red berry, dark chocolate and cake spice flavours on the palate finishing with a citrus zest and great acidity for food. Tannins are still quite firm. Decant one hour prior to pouring with grilled meats.

Rosso Di Montalcino food pairings: breaded veal cutlets, duck breast with celeriac salad, tagliatelle alla Bolognese, chicken herb-rubbed roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lovely! Aromas of ripe black cherry, cured salami, some dried flowers and green herbs, and clove. Bright acidity on the palate, with more tart fruit along with an herbaceous finish. Enjoy with any traditional Italian meals, this would stand up well to a nice tomato based sauce, or a more rustic, mushroom dish.
From Marchesi De' Frescobaldi, Campo Ai Sassi 2016 is fragrant with earthy florals and wild herb aromas, robust and mouth-watering with tart cherry, red plum, cedar spice, dark chocolate, dusty herb and meaty flavours on the palate. Tannins are fine and grippy. - Community Wine Reviews
