Natalie's Score: 91/100

Dry herbs, dust and leather on the nose of this fine and complex Italian red wine. Robust, but balanced and elegant: the ultimate food wine, especially for tomato sauces and grilled meats. Tart black cherry and good acidity on the palate. Polished tannins and smooth texture. Crisp lively finish. Decant 1 hour and enjoy.

Rosso Di Montalcino food pairings: breaded veal cutlets, duck breast with celeriac salad, tagliatelle alla Bolognese, chicken herb-rubbed roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A great table red wine, food friendly, high acidity, old world style, leather, tart red fruit and minerality. A great tomato-based pasta accompaniment. Fantastic value. Tasted May 2017. 88 points.
Marchesi De' Frescobaldi Campo Ai Sassi (2014) is made from 100% Sangiovese from one of the premium Italian winemakers, Marchesi de' Frescobaldi. The family has been making premium wines since the 1300s. Ripe red berries, dusty rose, dried herbs and anise are found on this Rosso Di Montalcino. Drink now or cellar for five years. - Community Wine Reviews
