Dry herbs, dust and leather on the nose of this fine and complex Italian red wine. Robust, but balanced and elegant: the ultimate food wine, especially for tomato sauces and grilled meats. Tart black cherry and good acidity on the palate. Polished tannins and smooth texture. Crisp lively finish. Decant 1 hour and enjoy.

Rosso Di Montalcino food pairings: breaded veal cutlets, duck breast with celeriac salad, tagliatelle alla Bolognese, chicken herb-rubbed roast.

Nice colour on this one, pale ruby with brick reflections. Aromas are bright with stewed cherries, strawberry compote, plum, violets, cedar and vanilla bean. Flavours are brisk reflecting tart cherries, raspberry, pomegranate, dark chocolate, nutmeg and toasted almonds. High acidity, noticeable tannins with a medium finish. Toast and jam touches continue. A good pairing with sundried tomatoes, bruschetta bread, charcuterie and olives. 88 points - January 2018
