Tasty, full-bodied and delicious! Superb value: staggeringly great for the price. Aromas of cedar, black fruit, smoke and juicy black cherry. From the L'excellence series of Aubert Frères, Proprietor-Récolt, this robust French red wine previously has won a Gold medal at the Concours Général Agricole wine competition. This wine is a blend of 75% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah grapes. This, my friends, is your party wine. It'll dance with anything on the grill.

Food pairings: gourmet hamburgers, grilled pork chops, barbecued steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

2013 Medaille D'Argent Concours des Grands Vins de France a Macon. This wine wins a prize from me for value at $15! This is a great medium+ bodied red wine blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre. Nice red and black berries, cherry, baking spice, raisin, smoke, cedar and some prune. Not an overly long length but still a nice finish of cherry vanilla. This one wins points for price. Fire up the BBQ and grill - anything. This is one to buy by the case.
Tasted: April 2015
This southern French red wine from the Rhone is brought to us by Plan De Dieu Aubert Frères. The phrase "Plan de Dieu" is noted in viticultural records dating as far back as 1362 (the Middle Ages) in reference to the Church's vineyards. This winery was promoted to prestigious status of Côtes du Rhône-Villages in 2005. The wines are a blend mostly of Grenache grapes, but always with at least 20% Syrah and Mourvèdre. - Community Wine Reviews
