Château le Grand Retour Plan De Dieu 2018 is a fantastic value Côtes Du Rhône-Village under $16. Produced by Aubert Frères, the Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre red wine blend is fragrant with ripe dark cherry, blackberry, anise and pepper spice aromas. Dry, fruity and medium-plus-bodied with ripe blackberries, dark cherry, plum, ground pepper, earthy violets and spicy flavours on the palate. Chill and enjoy with burgers and ribs from the grill.

Food pairings: gourmet hamburgers, grilled pork chops, barbecued steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Trent Mayers rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

For fans of Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre blends from the Southern Rhone, you may want to buy this excellent, good value Cru wine by the case. Deeply coloured, full bodied, and dry, it shows typical garrigue, woody sweet vanilla, blackberry jam, black plum, and strawberry united with ripe tannins. It’s drinking beautifully now or it will hold in your wine racks for another 3-4 years. This would make a marvellous accompaniment for grilled lamb or game.
Château le Grand Retour Plan De Dieu 2018 is a great value medium-plus-bodied Côtes Du Rhône-Village red wine blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre fragrant with fresh blackberry, earthy florals, ground pepper, dried wild herbs and vanilla flavours soft and plushy on the palate. So easy to enjoy. Pour with grilled lamb chops. - Community Wine Reviews
