Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Graciano is not usually the dominant grape in the Spanish reds we see at the LCBO. Neither is this wine typical compared to most LCBO offerings. Blackberries and earth on the nose and palate, different yes, but the big difference is the dryness. Fully dry with a seam of acids. Think tomato based dishes.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

An affordable every day wine from Rioja, Spain, the Rio Madre 2016 is made from 100% Graciano, not as well known as its big brother Tempranillo. This 2016 vintage delivers a rich bouquet of black plum, blackberry, tobacco leaf, cola and cedar, that just begs for you to take a sip. Full bodied with a lovely medium finish, the palate reveals red plum, bay leaf, cocoa and sandalwood. Enjoy.
Produced by Bodegas y Vinedos Ilurce, Rio Madre (2016) is a full-bodied 100% Graciano red from the Rioja wine region. So much dark fruit, textured on the palate, finishing with cracked black pepper and with a mouth-watering acidity. Fantastic value! Definitely pair it with roast lamb, garlic and rosemary to tame the beast. Drink now and for five years. - Community Wine Reviews
