From Bodegas y Viñedos Ilurce, Rio Madre 2019 is a bright, medium-plus-bodied 100% Graciano from the Rioja wine region. Rich with ripe red berry fruit, pepper spice and mouth-watering acidity. Rio Madre first produced this wine in 2010. Lovely now. Pour with grilled lamb chops.

Graciano food pairings: smoked meat, turkey, veal breast stuffed with wild mushrooms, wild mushroom quiche.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Lovely! Aromas of red currants and dried cherry with a hint of warm leather and spice. Fulll bodied on the palate with bright, vibrant acidity, lots of dark ripe and dried fruit on the palate, and a hint of peppery spice on the finish. Enjoy with smoky sausages and grilled veggies.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Flavor-rich an easy-drinking, the Rio Madre 2019, by Bodegas y Viñedos Ilurce, offers aromas of roasted plum, prune, black pepper, smoke, leather, clove and oak. Made from the Graciano grape - a delicious dark-skin fruit commonly grown in the Rioja region of Spain- delivers a full body, well-layered acidity, and a long and juicy finish. Palate: dried strawberry, cherry, black pepper, leather, spice, coffee and oak. Enjoy!
