A terrific, full-bodied red wine at an staggeringly great price! This is a DOCA wine and is produced by Bodegas Y Vinedos Ilurce. Loaded with black pepper, fleshy dark fruit, mouth-watering action and layers of lip-smacking flavours. This wine was matured in French oak and made from 100% Graciano, a native Spanish grape enjoying a resurgence in popularity. This is modern and complex Rioja red wine. Pair with lamb and rosemary.

Food pairings: Montreal spices, turkey with cranberry sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This deep brooding wine is crafted with 100% Graciano - a native Spanish black grape varietal once widely grown in the Northern Spain region of Rioja. Graciano is characterized by it's perfumed aromas which are evident in this wine. Other aroma and flavour characteristics include succulent dark fruits, plum, vanilla, toast, eucalyptus. Silky tannins and refreshing acidity. This is an action packed wine at the great price of $15. Enjoy over the next 3-5 years.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Tasted in 2021. Still lots of lovely fruit. Aromas of black currant and plum, along with a hint of a dried, raisin note, as well as some notes of dried herbs, Medium+ bodied, with some light, but drying tannins, and some ripe and dried fruit notes, along with a savoury, herbaceous note on the finish. Enjoy with a rustic lentil stew.
The Graciano grape is iconic in Rioja winemaking. It adds a floral bouquet to the wine, especially of exotic violets that meshes wonderfully well with fleshy black fruit and pepper notes. The winery's estate-owned vineyards surround the town of Alfaro. - Community Wine Reviews
