Very attractive nose of fleshy ripe dark red fruit and some smoke. Juicy and savoury on the palate with a lovely full-bodied weight. Decant 2 hours. Pretty amazing price. Drink with grilled pork chops or pepper steak.

Merlot food pairings: grilled lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Darlene Myers - CAPS Student rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Although considerably more money where I live in Nova Scotia, I found this Bordeaux to be still a very good value. Medium bodied with aromas and flavors of black currants, spice and cedar, this Merlot dominant Bordeaux would go great with pork, lamb or duck.
Château Hauchat again delivers a quality value-priced wine. Deeply coloured, with aromas of cherries, vanilla, spice, plums and mineral. The palate is dry and mirrors the nose beautifully. A lovely long finish. A well-structured wine that promises to reward short-term cellaring (3-4 years) but will also perform well tonight. Full-bodied & Smooth. Source: Vintages Wine Panel, July 2012
