Located on the right bank of the Gironde river, Fronsac has long been a well-known wine region. Chateau Hauchat is a good representation of the charm of this region. Look for ripe red plum, black currant, menthol, allspice, fine herb, bay leaf, vanilla and well-integrated oak spice flavours on this medium-bodied Merlot-driven red.

Food pairings: lamb, grilled pork chops, pepper steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Chateau Hauchat 2018, from the beautiful Fronsac region, provides a great quality wine for any budget. Chateau Hauchat delivers aromas of blackberry, pomegranate, mint, graphite, dill spice and cedar. The wine reveals a medium body, fresh acidy and young tannins, with a dry and short finish. Palate: black plum, blueberry, bay leaf, graphite, incense, dark chocolate and cedar. Enjoy.
Produced by Jean-Bernard Saby & Fils, vitic. Château Hauchat 2018 is a well-priced Fronsac Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot from the right bank of Bordeaux with ripe raspberry, cassis, bay leaf, sous bois, cedar spice, savoury herbs and well-integrated oak spice flavours round and smooth on palate, all for under $20. Pour with grilled lamb chops or hold in cellar for two three years. - Community Wine Reviews
