Dark ruby hue red and dark fruit aromas. Joseph J. Wagner produces this Californian red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes. The Clark & Telephone Vineyard was planted in 1972. Joe Wagner produces four single-vineyard Pinot Noirs from four Californian appellations. Changes in sunlight hours, rain, climate, fog and elevations results in four distinct styles for the four vineyards: Dairyman, Las Alturas, Taylor Lane and Clark & Telephone. Mocha and sweet dark chocolate on the nose and palate of this Californian Pinot Noir from generous oak aging. This is followed by sweet cherry flavours and a supple almost full-bodied weight. Finishes with flavours of raspberry pie and clove and cinnamon spices. Pair with ham or Mexican mole.

Pinot Noir food pairings: salmon steaks, pork, spaghetti Bolognese, veal, roast beef.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The winemaker has been busy here adorning layer after layer of flavour on this PN. Starting with a powerful rich core of ripe black cherry fruit, licorice and cola flavours decorate this wine both aromatically and in terms of flavour. Don't buy this one thinking subtlety, or dryness or classic flavours/aromas. Buy this if you are a big PN fan of BIG PNs.
