Yalumba Patchwork Shiraz 2013, Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia: Shiraz from the Barossa Valley shines, and here is a prime example. With 160 years of Barossa heritage, Yalumba shows exactly what Barossa terroir is capable of. The winery creates this wine from a "patchwork quilt" of soils, aspects, microclimates and cultures, thus the name. The winery has selected specific parts of its cool-climate vineyard in the Eden Valley for this "patchwork" blend of Shiraz. It marries these with some warm plots in the Barossa Valley to create a remarkable wine. A rich, full-bodied, supple Australian red wine with attractive aromas of black plum, blackberries and black raspberries. Incredible concentration and depth with a long finish.
