San Felice Chianti Classico 2015, Tuscany D.O.C.G., Italy: A luscious, medium-bodied superbly balanced Italian red wine. This moderately priced, pleasant Chianti is perfect for Italian fare. Very attractive smoke and toasty oak on the nose. Black cherry, spice aromas, with good acidity in this almost full-bodied red wine. Polished tannins. Made from the traditional Sangiovese grape and other native varieties, this full-bodied Italian red wine has smooth tannins. The 2013 vintage of the Chianti Classico San Felice is mostly of Sangiovese grapes with some Colorino and Pugnitello grapes. Pugnitello almost became non-existent until this winery started using it in this popular blend. Pair with grilled meats. San Pedro 1865 Selected Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Maipo Valley, Chile: Savoury, feral, rich, dark and brooding South African red wine made from classic Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The grapes were harvested by hand in mid April and underwent a cold maceration of 5 days followed by a longer one of 25 days. The wine was aged in French oak barrels (95%) and America oak (5%). Intense concentration and depth of flavour: lots of fleshy black plums and berries. Pair with leg of lamb and rosemary. Remo Farina Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2016, Veneto D.O.C., Italy: Remo Farina Ripasso Valpolicella Classico is a juicy, vibrant full-on Italian red wine with mocha flavours from generous oak aging. Lots of black fruit, plums and spice and perfect for the grilled fare. The wine has great balance and structure and is a red wine blend of 50% Corvina, 15% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, 5% Molinara and 10% Oseleta. Juicy, robust and vibrant Italian: a terrific wine especially at this price point. Aromas of black fleshy ripe blackberries, black plums and some dark spice.
