Paris Valley Road Zinfandel 2014

California, United States

Dianne scored this wine: 90/100

Zinfandel, 2014, Paris Valley Road, Paso Robles California. An explosion of flavours and aromas. Blueberry, dark cherry, smoke, strawberry. Very smooth, well balanced with good acidity. Full bodied with a long dark cherry finish. I paired it with chocolate on Valentine's Day! A very elegant and sophisticated wine.

Take the road less traveled to Paso Robles, located between Santa Barbara and San Francisco. In this region due to the fluctuating changes in climate, the vines produce small clusters of berries, resulting in more concentrated wines. This 2015 Zinfandel (aka primitivo) is flavourful, bold, jammy and peppery. On the palate it explodes with dark plum, cherry, candied fruit and licorice. It is smooth and full bodied. The finish has spice and smokey tobacco. Since Zinfandel wines are on the fruitier side, pair with barbecued and curry dishes. Reviewed: January 7, 2018

A Bordeaux style wine made in the Napa Valley. A project by Christian Moueix of Petrus in Pomerol. On the nose, blackcurrent, spice, pepper, licorice, vanilla, chocolate. Medium to full bodied with a long, complex, blackberry jammy finish. Firm, well rounded tannins, well balanced and very smooth. You will want to decant this wine for about an hour. It would go well with beef stew, steak or simply enjoy on its own on a snowy day in front of a roaring fire! Reviewed: March 27, 2017

Castleforte Soave 2014

Veneto Doc, Italy

At this price point, I was surprise by this wine. This is one of my favourite white wines from Italy from the Veneto Region. The grape is Garganega. I was in Italy a few years ago when I discovered Soave. Usually it is quite acidic, but this particular wine is light, well balance with just the right amount of weight and acidity. It has a lovely floral bouquet of white flowers, honey, peach, pear, grapefruit and lemon. It is dry with a medium citrusy, mineral finish. Serve with pasta tossed with a white, rich, buttery sauce. White meats and fish would compliment this wine as well. A nice sipping wine on a hot Summer day. Reviewed: March 27, 2017

Such a beautiful rose from Tawse. This is the rose I enjoyed all Summer last year. On the nose it displays fruitiness with sour cherry, strawberry, rhurbarb and citrus aromas. Easy drinking, refreshing, medium bodied with a flavourful citrus finish. The grapes are hand harvested from selected Niagara vineyards. I paired this rose with grilled vegetables. Stock up for the Summer ! Reviewed March 20, 2017
