This wine makes me wonder why I don't drink more zinfandel. Its juicy and meaty with seductive black cherry and berry fruit yet not over the top. I'd even call this wine elegant... Not an adjective usually associated with zinfandel, generally characterized as pure exuberance in a glass. A superb effort.

Reviews and Ratings

Bernard rated this wine as 95/100
Had John Fogerty ever tasted this Old Vines Zinfandel from Ravenswood, the lyrics for the song “Lodi” likely would have been changed to a celebratory “Yes Lord! I’m stuck in Lodi again!” Impressive from beginning to end, this will exhibit suggestions of blackberry, sweet black cherry, earth and spice. Expect the palate to be dry, balanced and bursting with fruit flavour with velvety tannins. Quite a lively and vibrant wine that is perfect for ribs, it will also reward 3+ years in the cellar.
