The crested porcupine featured on the front label is common in South Africa. They are noisy animals that move with a ponderous gait with lots of sniffing and grunting, eating mostly potatoes and root vegetables. They are also nocturnal and shy, and many live in the vineyards of this winery. In 1776, the South African winery Boekenhoutskloof was founded and has since become one of the most known producers in the country. Stunningly good price. South Africa does so well with Sauvignon Blanc, and it shows in this wine. Grassy, nettle, herbal refreshment with a medium-bodied weight. Lots of mouth-watering acidity. Pair with vegetarian dishes, seafood and grilled Portobello mushroom.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: grilled calamari, vegetarian dishes, seafood and grilled Portobello mushroom, chicken and sage skewers, fresh tomato and basil salad.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Shows soft tropical fruit and green grassy notes on nose, with pineapple, citrus and herbal elements on the palate with crisp acidity and bright citrus finish.
Enjoy with shellfish and summer salads.
Tasted June 2018
Porcupine Ridge 2017 is a great value Sauvignon Blanc under $20 from he Western Cape wine region. Dry, fuller than most Sauvignon Blanc's look for grassy, nettle, herbs and some tropical fruit notes on this mouth-watering white. Pair with gooseberry jam over warm brie. - Community Wine Reviews
