This wine almost jumps out of the glass in its vibrancy and intensity. It's incredibly flavourful for Australian cabernet which is usually far more austere than shiraz. Pair this full-bodied red wine with pepperoni pizza. Highly recommended.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: grilled lamb, bison burgers, chicken salad, pork tenderloin, autumn hodge-podge.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Pirramimma is never shy with the power of their wines, nor, are they shy with tannins. This wine delivers. Big powerful bouquet, followed by a big powerful set of flavours. Fruit is cassis, oak is coconut and arrives late. Tannins are present so you could age this 3 - 5 years or drink now if you don't mind some tannins and want the youthful power of this wine to not be lessened as happens with all wines over time.
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Very full wine and full fruit flavour. Solid tannins with a long fruit finish. The only bad thing about this wine is it is out of stock in Ontario!

My Gray Cup wine - tasted Nov. 27/16
Lovely woodsmoke and spices on the Alexander Campbell Johnston founded this winery more than 120 years ago, and today the Johnston family still produces wines from one of Australia's oldest wineries. The grapes were sourced from the Orchard Block parcels of vineyards as well as the Pig and Pony vineyard. Long finish on this warm-climate Cabernet. - Community Wine Reviews
