Toasty oak on the nose wraps around fleshy ripe black cherries. Full-bodied, mouth-watering juicy and smooth with a great finish. Smoky and toasty. New Zealand Pinot Noir offers that unique combination of fleshy fruit and zingy juiciness. Terrific with a wide range of dishes. Yum! Long finish.

Pinot Noir food pairings: planked salmon, barbecued duck, veggie mushroom burger, frittata.

Reviews and Ratings

Courtney Flood rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Bright raspberry and ripe cherry flavours dominate this mouthwatering and fresh pinot noir. Layers of nutmeg, vanilla and slate give it some character. Great pairing for grilled vegetables, especially marinated portabello mushrooms; would also go nicely with cedar planked salmon.
Shelley Harris rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A fresh and light pinot noir, with vanilla and spice notes. A wine that would complement a sesame-seed encrusted tuna steak and lightly pan-fried. Yum.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A very aromatic and flavourful New Zealand Pinot Noir. Cherry, tart field berries, wood smoke, flint, and vanilla on the nose and repeat on the palate with a long tart cherry finish. A very expressive wine that delivers on quality, flavour, and varietal expression. For under $20 you can not find better value Pinot Noir anywhere. Highly recommend trying this wine and enjoying over the holiday season and the next two to three years. Tasted November 22, 2014. 90 points. Matt Steeves - @QuercusVino
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Nov 22, 2014: Medium ruby, lifted cranberry, cherry, raspberry smoky/toasty with floral/herbal and mineral notes.
Fresh on the palate, cherry, raspberry, earthy notes and light spice, medium body, medium acidity, good length. Nice complexity and balance, this should be very food friendly but drinks very nice on its own. Great value at $20 - 89/90.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Bright ruby colour with a fade to light pink on the edges. Cherry, raspberry and blackberry on the nose. On the palate it’s a bit tart at first, but mellows out quickly, and the berries and red fruit come through. Subtle oak comes through on the aroma and the palate but is not overwhelming.
Oyster Bay is part of the Delegat wine portfolio and a solid producer of good value wines including this New Zealand Pinot Noir. Smoky oak and black cherry notes with some dark spice on the finish. - Community Wine Reviews
