The winery uses the gentlest methods to press the grapes and make the wine via a gravity flow system rather than pumping (thus the name gravity on the label). Then the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. I've long been a fan of Flat Rock's Pinot Noirs, especially the Gravity which I think is even stronger in 2013 over last year. Aromas of fleshy cherry yet it's balanced with racy acidity. Medium ruby hue with cherry accents, polished tannins, silky smooth texture and medium bodied weight. Gorgeous cherry-berry aromas and flavours on the mid-palate. Then it finishes with wisps of black raspberry and vanilla toast. This red wine is so vibrant and so fantastically great year after year. Try it with roast chicken or turkey.

Pinot Noir food pairings: duck risotto, planked salmon, roast chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This Pinot Noir from Twenty Mile Bench, Ontario shows aromatic ripe cherry, vanilla, mocha and fresh earth on the nose. The palate repeats in a mouth-watering silky mouthfeel, with a tart cherry finish.

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Yummy plum and wild blueberry aromas as well as red licorice, floral notes, and hints of vanilla, wood, cinnamon and sweet tobacco.

On the palate, it is velvety and fresh with tart black plum flavours and a touch of bitter espresso at the finish. A great product that I will purchase again!
