Excellent value on this Cru Bourgeois from the Médoc, Bordeaux wine region with bright red berry, crushed blueberry, earthy violet, cocoa, vanilla flavours finishing spicy on the palate. Tannins are firm and fine-grained.

Food pairings: veal chops, barbecued veal chops in red wine sauce, strong cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Aromas of dark berry and plums, along with graphite, vanilla, warm spice and a bit of mocha. Full bodied, with medium dusty tannins, ripe, rounded berry notes, a hint of florals and some medium acidity. Hints of spice, graphite and smoke on the finish. Enjoy with slow braised beef.
Produced by the Famille Salette, Château Pierre de Montignac is a full-bodied smoky, toasty Cru Bourgeois with ripe dark fruit, dark berry, espresso and cocoa flavours, earthy and long on the finish. Pour with game roasts. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
