A spectacular Bordeaux red wine blend that's drinking well now though it could benefit from another few years in the cellar. The 2009 vintage was a terrific one and it shows in this wine. Aromas of fleshy ripe blackberry and black currant. Pair with a pepper steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Delicious dark red fruit, meat, touch of smoke & mocha aromas while the palate gives redcurrants, smoke, black licorice. Shows excellent structure and balance with a long smokey finish. Serve grilled duck breast or venison.

Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Alex: Excellent Bordeaux here in the $20 range, showing off the splendour of the 2009 vintage in a package that's both age worthy and yet delicious now. I will say that if you buy this to drink soon, open it and leave it in the bottle with the cork for the 2nd day and even the 3rd, as it will drink a lot better - for it's very rigid just upon opening. After it opens up you're greeted with a charming Bordeaux nose - smoky blackcurrant fruit framed in warm cocoa notes and accented with stone, iron and spruce bark. The palate is meaty and chewy with depth of fruit and a great refreshing acidity that really harmonizes once the wine opens up. I'd expect this will age well for 5-10 years, and at the price, certainly suitable to buy by the case. 92pts
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The nose offers juicy notes of blackfruit and smoke with the palate giving full bodies flavors of plum, blackberry, dark chocolate and a hint of spice. Finishes with lingering notes of blackfruit.

Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Just finished drinking this wonderful Medoc wine with friends. It is a mild winter night Feb. 20th 2016 family day in Ontario. The fire is crackling in the fire place. The wine shows soft aromas of black currant. On the palate more candided berry fruit. The tannins have become very soft. The wine disappeared quickly from our glasses. I am thinking it may be time to finish the 2009 if you have any remaining in your cellar.
This French red wine from the heart of the Medoc region in Bordeaux was matured in oak barrels and offers aromas of redcurrant and toasty oak. Great structure and balance. The 2009 vintage was a terrific one and it shows in this wine. Aromas of fleshy ripe blackberry and black currant. Pair with a pepper steak. Drink now to 2025. - Community Wine Reviews
