From Aubert Frères, Château Le Grand Retour Plan De Dieu is a delicious, medium-plus-bodied and juicy red blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes. Fragrant and lushly layered with ripe dark cherry, anise, dried wild herbs and pepper spice flavours on the palate. So good now and for sure for the next three years.

Côtes du Rhône-Villages food pairings: gourmet hamburgers, grilled pork chops, barbecued steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Grenache Syrah blend is a nice expression of a typical Rhone blend. Good fruit concentration with a hint of mint on the nose. The fruit on the palate is rich and just tastes like more. A bit of earthiness adds complexity to the finish. Good value. Pair with prime rib or burgers. Tasted February 2020. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A versatile GSM Rhone blend(70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mouvedre), this medium-bodied wine has aromas of dark berries and pepper. Dark fruit on the palate with low acidity and medium tannins. There is licorice and pepper on the dry, medium finish. Serve with savoury meat dishes.
From the Rhône wine region, Château Le Grand Retour Plan De Dieu 2017 is fantastic value under $16. A Côtes Du Rhône-Village, dry, medium-plus-bodied and juicy red blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre grapes. Spicy and smoky with blackberry and plum compote, smoke, dark cherry, savoury herbs and spicy on the palate. Drink or hold. Pair with roast beef dinner. - Community Wine Reviews
