This is the 2015 vintage from the Tuscany wine region, Barone Ricasoli Rocca Guicciarda Riserva is a full-bodied Chianti Classico. Lot of ripe dark fruit with dried herbs and spicy chocolate flavours on the palate. Lots of mouth-watering acidity as well. A smooth classic Chianti with aromas of dark fruit, sun-dried tomato and dried herbs. Mouth-watering acidity for a wide range of dishes from pasta in tomato sauce to spicy sausages. This wine is a blend of mostly Sangiovese grapes, with a little Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Finishes with baking spices, dried herbs. Pair with game meats, Italian sausage or meats sauces. Pair with a rich tomato sauce and sausage casserole. Decant for two hours prior to serving.

Chianti Classico food pairings: stuffed roasted turkey, steak topped pizza, pasta in tomato sauce, breaded veal cutlets.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Powerful stuff from Ricasoli. Big, fleshy and ripe, with blackberry, black plum and black cherry notes, wrapped around a core of fresh and dried herb, anise seed, chocolate and a hint of cedar, rather than the other way around. Intensely fascinating, and its inverted nature only stands to change dramatically over the next decade. 92 Points.
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Vibrant sour cherry accented by oak spice, smoke, and herbs. Structured tannins, firm acidity, and good body lend ageworthiness. Elements are integrated and balanced, though a few years away from the apogee of development. But do not let that dissuade you from enjoying this elegant red sooner with braised veal and mushrooms or Ragu al Chingiale.
