This classic Chianti could use more cellar time, then be sure to decant when you open it for 1-2 hours. Full-bodied with a firm grip. Aromas of dark fruit, sun-dried tomato and dried herbs. Mouth-watering acidity for a wide range of dishes from pasta in tomato sauce to spicy sausages. This wine is a blend of mostly Sangiovese grapes, with a little Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Finishes with baking spices, dried herbs. Pair with game meats, Italian sausage or meats sauces.

Chianti Classico food pairings: stuffed roasted turkey, steak topped pizza, pasta in tomato sauce, breaded veal cutlets.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Loved this Chianti Classico reserve. Full bodied, smooth tannins, balanced and integrating nicely. Strawberry, savoury herb, tomato leaf, baking spices. Approachable and accessibly priced. Great value. Pairs well with spaghetti bolognese or braised beef lasagna. Tasted 2014 vintage after 2h decant. 92 points.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Uncork, decant for a couple hours and enjoy alluring red cherry, summer savoury and faint minty aromas followed a flavourful sip of cherry, cocoa and lingering spice notes. The palate rich, mouthwatering and smooth with mild tannins and high acidity. Enjoy this scrumptious Chianti with braised chicken parmigiana. Tasted Jan 2018 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This ruby coloured Italian Red has dark berry aromas, cinnamon and the sweet smell of autumn leaves. On the palate, It has flavours of tart black plums and sour cherries as well as notes of sweet spice and hints of underwood. The tannins are smooth and well integrated with the invigorating acidity levels. A lovely wine!

Tasted January 2018
From the Tuscany wine region, Barone Ricasoli Rocca Guicciarda Riserva (2014) is a full-bodied Chianti Classico with firm tannings. Lot of ripe dark fruit with dried herbs and spicy chocolate flavours on the palate. Lots of mouth-watering acidity as well. Pair with a rich tomato sauce and sausage casserole. Decant for two hours prior to serving. - Community Wine Reviews
