Luscious and rich with cassis, fleshy blackberry and blackcurrant. Absolutely classic with a long finish. Tremendous quality for the price.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: meaty chili, game meats featuring a side of scalloped potatoes with asiago and sage.

Reviews and Ratings

Neil Phillips rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Deep dark red, with a dark purple rim.

Leather predominant on the nose, dark cherry, cassis, slight stew, pepper is there but muted under the fruit, hint of herb and anise too - and mineral.

Fruit goes on all the way, with a mineral back-bone. Eucalyptus. Tannins strong but not overly aggressive, lend to a long finish. Medium-plus (balanced) alcohol.
Brad reviewed this wine as follows:

this wine is dark garnet red in colour, aromas of blk currant, licorice & mint. The flavour is bold and the fill sthe palate, plenty of fruit to satisfy the most discerning cab lover, this is a great wine
Dean Smith reviewed this wine as follows:

Received as a Christmas gift from Brad
The wine seems to have been around forever, and so it has: this is the 53rd vintage. It is barrel-aged in French oak, 31% new, and comes from the top 25% of the available cabernet resources of Wynns. It is rich and luscious, with blackcurrant and dark chocolate aromas and flavours, the palate lengthened and strengthened by ripe yet fine tannins. Score: 94 Source: James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au
