Black fleshy plums on the nose with a pleasant zing of acidity mid-palate for lots of dishes from tangy meat sauces to grilled meats. More black fruit and mouth-filling roundness. A consistently good producer at fair prices for the quality. Highly recommended. This Australian red wine is a regional blend of Shiraz grapes of about two-thirds Clare Valley and one-third McLaren Vale regions. The wine was partially cold-soaked for 4 days, then aged in 100% new American oak barrels for 11 months. Deeply concentrated and flavoured.

Shiraz food pairings: juicy, grilled rare sirloin steak, hard cheese like Cheddar or Havarti.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Spicy dark fruit aromas, followed by a delicious dark fruit palate that reflects mint, mocha, toasty oak, dark chocolate and slight spice. A whole lot of flavour going on in this glass!
Tasted Nov. 2016
David Skinner rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Garnet and a sharp ruby rim. Rich dark fruit and spice on the nose. Plenty of black raspberries, cranberries and earthy tones. Full bodied and well balanced with supple tannins. Chocolate and blackberry linger into the lengthy finish.

SOmething with a decent fat content works well for this beauty. Slow roasted Lamb or even duck would make a fine pairing.
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The Clare Valley in Australia is one of my favorite wine regions so I was curious to try this award winning Shiraz blend from Clare Valley and McLaren Vale. The deep ruby colour, aromas of ripe berry and spice, flavours of jammy blackberry, licorice and dark chocolate add up to a yummy wine. This wine would pair beautifully with a grilled and marinated butterflied leg of lamb.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Wonderful Shiraz from Clare Valley and McLaren Vale from a storied winery. Fantastic balance, well integrated fruit, acidity, tannins. Ripe plum, blackberry, eucalyptus , with a hint of cactus meat. This wine is a great value for price, designed for the wine connaisseur, priced for a budget. Tasted Nov 2016 - rated 92/100 - I'd pair this wine with Montreal Smoked Meat, BBQ ribs or wings. #love
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This down under wine is brooding and handsome indeed. Dark and inky in the glass with ripe red and black berries leaping in salutations. Secondary aromas and flavours of cassis, leather, warm baking spices, black pepper, anise, bakers chocolate and blackcurrant leaf leave no doubt that this is an Aussie Shiraz. Well priced as well at $25. I'm so happy that I BBQ year round here in Ottawa because this wine begs for a nicely charred steak.
Tasted: November 2016
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Rich fruit and great spice. Full bodied and smooth. Medium tannic finish.
Wakefield's Jaraman (2014). Lots of blueberry on the plate from Jaraman. This Australian red wine is a regional blend of Shiraz grapes -- about 60 % from Clare Valley with the balance from McLaren Vale. Great value wine! - Community Wine Reviews
