Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Drinking beautifully now, Shotfire Quartage 2013 is a full-bodied and fruit driven Barossa Valley Shiraz rich and smooth with ripe dark fruits on the palate. Nicely layered with dark plum compote, cassis, savoury herbs, a touch of tobacco leaf spice with a hint of mint on a smooth and lingering finish. So ready to drink now, enjoy it with venison sausages or bison burgers from the grill. Tasted November 2024.
This Australian Shiraz underwent a slow, cool fermentation adds elegance and polish to this wine that was aged 14-16 months in both American and French hogshead barrels. This Australian red wine hails from a family making wine for six generations. Their ancestor James Goddard discovered gold in 1870 in the Barossa and so began the family's fascination with geology in all its aspects. The shotfire honours the dangerous job in the mines of having to light the dynamite and yell "fire's on" then run for cover. - Community Wine Review
