Elegant with great concentration and a high price tag. Is it worth it? Only you can decide. Aromas of black fruit and toasty oak. Complex.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: lamb Bolognese, grilled New York strip loin, barbecued ribs in sauce, hard cheese, braised pork shanks.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Silver Oak 2010 shows notes of sweet baking spice, mocha, herbs, leather, and pepper. The palate is rich and robust with black fruit, mocha, plum, and white pepper. Very nice effort, drinking well now and will evolve further over the next 10-20 years. Tasted June & November 2015, 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This sun baked California Cab has an intense nose to say the least. Aromas leaping from the glass include black cherry, plum, cassis, oak, and baking spices. The tannins are youthful and acidity a medium+. The wine is full-bodied with flavours of chocolate, plum, coffee, leather, tar, toast and a lift of mint. The length is long on a fruit driven finish. At just below $100 this might be one for the collector as this wine should hold for the next 10 years. Enjoy with finer cuts of beef.

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

From Alexander Valley, California, this Cab Sauv has an aromatic nose of ripe dark berries and vanilla. Delicious ripe dark berries, vanilla, oak, mint and herbal touches make up the palate's tapestry, with a well-balanced dry mouthfeel and a long ripe berry finish.
For more than 40 years, Silver Oak has produced wines in the heart of Sonoma's Alexander Valley. This wine is aged exclusively in American oak barrels then aged for 15 months in bottle. - Community Wine Reviews
