Natalie's Score: 90/100

This Chilean red wine has an intense and aromatic nose of mint and blackberry with plush fleshy plums on the palate. Nicely balanced with full-bodied goodness. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this wine are sourced from Santa Rita’s estate vineyard in Alto Jahuel. Great structure and a good grip on the palate. Decant 1-2 hours. Finishes with dark spices. Pair with meat lamb and rosemary.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: hamburgers, steak, hearty meat dishes, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This could be your great Canadian BBQ wine. I'm thinking juicy hamburger with all the trimmings. Black fruit, cherry, sweet spices, dried herbs, smoke, graphite. Repeated on the palate with drying tannins and cleansing acidity. A long warm, drying cherry finish. Superb price performer. Decanting suggested.
Tasted: May 2015
The vines are 20 years old or older. The wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months. Medalla real translates to Royal Medal. - Community Wine Reviews
