Chardonnay food pairings: roast chicken salad or poached salmon with a caper butter sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This wine has some legs! Intense smoke and toast on the nose with citrus, vegetal, honey, blossoms. Palate is medium(-) body and creamy with flavour characteristics of lemon, apple, vanilla, butter, honey, nutmeg. Acidity is refreshing. Oak is definitely more subtle on the palate than the nose. Very nice Chardonnay.
Pair with weightier white meat such as roast pork, chicken pot pie
Tasted: November 2014
Terry Jeans - Certified S rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Apples and nuttiness come through with some gentle oak. A fine chardonnay, with some notes of almonds, honey and creamy buttery flavours, with a crispiness that make this a delicious food friendly chardonnay.
Astrid Young - Sommelier ISG CAPS rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Impressive floral nose, aromas of fall leaves, dried flowers, baked apple crumble, even the whipped cream on top! warm spices, lemon zest and lemon butter, richly textured and complex with fresh dough notes and a lingering sense of 'i would like another one of these, please!'
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lovely, buttery aromas (remind me of buttered popcorn), lemon, pear, apple and toast. Full bodied, with flavours including caramel, citrus and vanilla coming through. Medium to long finish, balanced acidity. This wine deserves something special to pair with it, maybe lobster.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Intense aromas of toasted oak, caramel, pear, and honey lead you into this full bodied Okanagan gem. The Stewart Family Reserve is Quails' Gate's finest product line and the depth and character of this wine exhibit just how terrific these wines can be. Creamy and refreshing, this wine offers rich layers of golden apple, honey dew melon, butterscotch, and white pepper, leading to a long rich finish. Tasted November 2014. 91 points. Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Smells like the beach to me! The scent of salted caramel, layers of stone and tropical fruit flows into mouthwatering flavors of citrus and apricot. A wonderful pairing with chicken or duck dishes.
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Nov 16, 2014: Pale gold, pear, apple, toasty oak and flinty minerality linger. Creamy, ripe apple, honeydew melon, butterscotch and flinty mineral on the palate. Pair with curried prawns.
Tom Vigeant rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Enticing toasty notes overlaid on orchard fruit on the nose, some minerality and citrus as well. Medium to full bodied, fresh acidity, oak fairly well integrated but would give it another couple of years to achieve even better balance. Has complexity and structure to age well. Long finish, apples and oak.
Martha Kelly AIWS - CS rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This elegant Okanagan Chardonnay has ripe fruit flavours, sweet vanilla spice, and warming white pepper; judiciously oaked with a round mouth-feel, the flavours linger on the refreshing finish.
Pair with seafood chowder, or grilled chicken.
Drink now or cellar until 2018.
Date tasted: November 2014.
