Quails' Gate Stewart Family 2017 Chardonnay is rich and mouth-filling with ripe golden apple, baked goods, nutty almond, lemon pudding, vanilla and smoky, toasty flavours silky smoooth on the palate, finishing oh soooo long. This Chardonnay is dry, elegant with refreshing acidity and can handle rich seafood dishes like lobster Thermidor but could go equally well with roast chicken.

Chardonnay food pairings: roast chicken salad or poached salmon with a caper butter sauce, grilled cheese sandwiches.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Tasted in 2023, this wine is lovely, rounded and rich, yet bright and vibrant at the same time. Aromas of yellow apple, golden pear, cinnamon, buttery brioche, and some wet stone mineral hints. Full bodied on the palate, soft and rounded with apple and pear notes, as well as a touch of almond, buttery bread and spicy mineral hints. Lovely balance and a lengthy finish. Enjoy with buttery, pan-seared scallops.
Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A vibrant Chardonnay with ripe apple, pear, buttery brioche, finishing long with the telltale stony minerality for which this flagship Chardonnay is known. Elegant and precise.

The Chardonnay grapes for this graceful and elegant wine are whole-cluster pressed and fermented in new and previous-use French oak barrel for 11 months. With full malolactic fermentation in barrel and left to age on its lees with bâtonnage every 3 weeks, giving this wine a rich and weighty mouthfeel.

This vintage was awarded Platinum, National Wine Awards of Canada and Silver, International Wine & Spirit Competition.
