Ornellaia 2020 is produced from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot sourced from the Bolgheri, Tuscany wine region. Fragrant with ripe red berry fruit, cherry, vanilla and sweet dried tobacco leaf aromas, the wine is rounded, full-bodied, velvety, elegant and savoury on the palate, textured with pleasantly grippy tannins and a long satisfying finish. Each grape variety and single vineyard block were vinified separately. Fermentation took place in stainless steel and concrete tanks. After malolactic conversion, the wine remained in barriques in Ornellaia’s temperature-controlled cellars for about 18 months. "After the first 12 months of maturation, the wine was assembled and then returned to the barriques for an additional six months. After bottling, the wine aged a further 12 months prior to its release." A beautiful wine that needs a bit more time in bottle to show its best, try it in 2027 and cellar to 2040.

Food pairings: wild boar roast, grilled venison steak, roast saddle of rabbit.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
