Luxurious and sensuous with layers of ripe cherry, bright raspberry, black currant, cedar spice and nutty flavours on the palate, a beautiful Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot red wine blend. Fermented in stainless steel tank with malo occurring in 70% new and 30% one-fill French oak barrels. The wine remains in barriques for about 18 months, assembled after 12 months and then returned to the barriques for the remainder of the six months ageing, bottled and held for another year prior to release. Good now, better in a few years.

Food pairings: wild boar roast, grilled venison steak, roast saddle of rabbit.

Reviews and Ratings

Produced by winemaker, Axel Heinz, Ornellaia 2017 is from one of the hottest vintages recorded in the Bolgheri wine region. This is an intense Tuscany red wine blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, dark and rich on the nose with joyously ripe red berry, plum, sweet tobacco leaf and vanilla aromas. Concentrated on the palate as well, dry, full-bodied with layers of red and black fruits, dark chocolate, roasted herbs, anise, and flinty, dusty earth flavours. Beautifully-balanced and structured, this wine will evolve over the next quarter century. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
