From the Tuscany wine region, Ornellaia 2018 is fragrant with dried florals, red berries and spice, multi-layered and seductive with red berry, spiced plum, mocha, savoury herbs and licorice flavours fresh and long on the palate. A medium-plus-bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the wine is still quite youthful, but showing a great deal of poise and promise. Try in 2024.

Food pairings: wild boar roast, grilled venison steak, roast saddle of rabbit.

Reviews and Ratings

Ornellaia 2018 Superiore is a fragrant and vibrant medium-plus-bodied blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Youthful, but shy with some red berry, cherry, mocha, anise and cinnamon spice flavours on the palate. Showing a great deal of poise and promise. Try in 2024. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
