Mission Hill Family Estate Reserve 2020 Meritage is a full-bodied, sultry smooth and elegant blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot sourced from vineyards on the Black Sage Bench and Osoyoos. Rich with aromas of ripe blackberry, black currant, dark cherry, fig, smoky spices concentrated on the palate. Delish now but decant it for an hour or two prior to pouring it with a premium cut beef entrecôte.

Meritage food pairings: grilled red meat, roast pork, hard cheeses.

Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Well, this Meritage went down way too easy! Mission Hill's Reserve Meritage 2020 is a dry, medium-plus-bodied, very, very smooth and sultry blend of 42% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot from two of the winery’s estate vineyards in Oliver and Osoyoos located on the hot, sunny and arid Black Sage Bench. This warm climate allows these Bordeaux varietals to ripen fully and completely.

Darkest red in the glass and lush on the nose and palate with raspberry compote, blackberry, dark cherry, vanilla, pepper and well-integrated oak spice filling the mid palate and finishing with a hint of flint, perfect acidity to match and rounded, velvety, fine-grained tannins. Excellent now, but the wine could easily cellar for another three to five years… probably not in my wine cellar though *(*. Tasted May 2022.
