Natalie's Score: 88/100

Pure green apple vibrancy and intensity of flavour with mouth-awakening acidity. Medium-bodied and fresh. This Burgundian white wine made in the Village appellation of Auxerrois is unusually made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape, which is lesser known than Chardonnay and far fewer wines are made from it in Burgundy. It nonetheless is superb. Enjoy with fresh oysters.

Food pairings: poached seafood, sashimi and sushi, bouillabaisse, fresh oysters on the half shell.

Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Sigh... there goes the last of the beautiful bottles of La Chablisienne Saint Bris 2016... and still so darn good. In fact, it is has become more elegant, balanced and refined since the very first bottle I had several years ago. Bone-dry and medium-bodied with nutty apple, a hint of gooseberry, briny mineral, grassy and lime-lemon citrus flavours silky, zesty and lingering on the palate. Chilled and enjoy with Kusshi oysters October 2022.
La Chablisienne, Saint Bris (2016) is a zesty, vibrant medium-bodied Sauvignon Blanc made in the village of Auxerrois. Saint-Bris is the only growing area in Burgundy permitted to grow Sauvignon Blanc and also grown in the same Kimmeridgian soils know to produce incredible Burgundian Chardonnays. - Community Wine Reviews
