A solid Californian Cabernet that's full-bodied with classic blackberry and cassis aromas, and just enough toasty oak. Polished tannins, good balance. Finishes with attractive wood smoke and black fruit. Pair it with a pepper steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: hearty meat dishes, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A delicious North Coast, California Cab, fragrant and satiny with lots of cassis and vanilla, enhanced by touches of mint and sweet spice. Excellent structure and acidity with lingering elegant finish. Pair with crown rack of lamb.
Tasted May 2018
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Ruby in colour with aromas of plum, black cherry, raspberry, mint and dark chocolate. It is fulled bodied with well balanced acidity and tannins. On the palate you get flavours of plum, raspberry and cooked blackberries. This will go well with steak or BBQ’d ribs. Tasted on May 6, 2018.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Good juice. Lots of ripe berry and a hint of milk chocolate and linzer. Smooth and round. 89 Points.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Dark plum, prune, freshly cut red bell peppers, and a dark chocolate covered cherry note with lightly toasted vanilla beans. Flavours reveal fresh boysenberry, cassis, clove, and stewed plum jam. Acidity is balanced with rich body and fruit flavours. Perfect barbecue accompaniment! Hamburgers and baby back ribs. 88 points - tasted May 6, 2018
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Aromas of spiced dark fruit with flavours of raspberry and spice. Very smooth, but lots of tannins that would pair well with steak and a spinach salad.

Tasted this one at the 2018 California wine show April 18, 2018 and tasted again May 6, 2018
California Irony Reserve (2015) is a Cabernet Sauvignon from California's North Coast. This blackberry, chocolaty Californian Cabernet is from the winery's Small Lot Reserve collection. Made by third generation winemakers, Jay and Chris Indelicato. Enjoy with grilled meats. - Community Wine Reviews
