Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

For Baco Noir, this Reseve is a prime example of where it’s at in Ontario. Tangy blueberry, pomegranate, leather, racy and concentrated. Balanced. Pairs well with gourmet bison burgers, turkey dinner, braised red meats, boar sausage. Tasted 2016 vintage in Nov 2017. 92 points. BespokeTastings
Luc Delorme rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The Speck Family Reserve Back from Henry of Pelham is consistently at the top of the Baco list year after year. The 2016 is no exception.

Deep, rich, ripe dark fruit greet the nose and continue on smoothly on the palate. Expertly balanced with just the right amount of acidity and tannins, this will please Baco fans for sure.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Smoky and robust!! Aromas of rich plum, blackberry, leather, cedar, and campfire smoke. Full bodied and smooth on the palate, lots of ripe, dark fruit, and those nice leather and smoky notes on the finish. Smooth tannins and medium acidity. Enjoy with grilled pork or BBQ ribs.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Tasted this side by side with the 2017 Henry of Pelham Baco Noir

Delicious vanilla and cedar aromas on the nose. Full-bodied with flavours of sour cherry, pomegranate and chocolate on the palette. Well balanced tannins and acidity.

You won't be disappointed if you pair this wine with steak.

Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Purple in colour with aromas of plum, blackberry, leather and smoke. It is full bodied with low tannins, well balanced acidity and nice ripe black fruit flavours. This will pair well with grilled red meats and strong cheeses. The Speck Family Reserve is the top tier for Henry of Pelham, who already specialize in Baco Noir and this is a bargain price for the quaility of wine. Tasted on July 15, 2018.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Henry of Pelham has been consistently making great baco noir, and this Speck Family Reserve is their top production. It is full with plum, black fruits, rich, warm texture, and finish with gentle acid and low tannin. A great wine to pair with autumn dishes.
A full-bodied, rich Niagara Baco from a warm vintage (2016) with a concentrated nose of plums, blackberries, grilled bacon, smoky savoury herbs and spicy. Pair with grilled pork chops. - Community Wine Reviews
