Reviews and Ratings

Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted April 30 2017. Colour light red to brilliant light ruby red. I can see my fingers through the glass. Aroma red fruit and red cherry licorice. Intense aroma can smell it from a distance. Notes of spice and wet oak. On the palate red fruit soft tannin and a little acid. Light mouth feel more on the tip of the tongue then on the back. Finishes medium to short with strawberry, raspberry and red cherry. A nice easy drinking wine with flavour good value for Pinot noir. A nice everyday table wine. Pair with a meat pasta, chicken. I had some balderson cheese and a chicken sandwich with my glass of wine.
The wine grapes for Echeverria Gran Reserva (2014) come from the Leyda Valley, a small sub-region of the San Antonio Valley wine region in Chile. This cool-climate region is effected by the cold Humboldt Current of the Pacific Ocean. The Pinot Noir grapes and vines grow in largely clay and loam soils over a granite base with moderate drainage. These low-fertility soils produce premium grapes because they make the vines struggle, producing small, concentrated grapes rather than leafy foliage. The cool temperatures, warm sunshine during the long growing season allows the grapes to ripen fully and develop complexity while still retaining acidity.- Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
