From Prince Edward County, wine region in Ontario, Closson Chase Churchside 2018 Pinot Noir is smoky and intense on the nose with cherry compote, ripe raspberry, fine dried herbs, baking and cedar spice, finishing on a mineral note. Lovely acidity for food and overall nicely balanced with ripe, velvety tannins. Drink or hold.

Pinot Noir food pairings: veal roast, roast turkey, roast leg of lamb, veal Porterhouse, Osso Buco.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Tasted alongside some other 2018 Pinot Noir from Closson Chase. The Churchside Pinot Noir has a bit more cherry on the nose, along with hints of candied strawberry, warm cedar smoke, violets and spice. Medium bodied on the palate with a bit more heft than the Vineyear Pinot Noir. Tannins are slightly more prominent but still light, acidity is a bit more restrained, and fruit is a bit more ripe. Hints of spice and smoke on the finish. Quite a lovely wine! Enjoy with charcuterie and cheese.
